How is AEO different from SEO?
They overlap heavily, and AEO builds on the same foundation: a fast site, clean structure and content that genuinely answers questions. The difference is emphasis. Answer engines favor pages that state the answer directly and early, use real question-based headings, and back claims with specifics. A page that rambles for eight paragraphs before answering gets skipped, even if it ranks well in classic search.
How do you optimize for answer engines?
- Answer the question in the first sentence under each heading, then elaborate. AI systems extract direct statements.
- Use questions as headings, phrased the way customers actually ask them. Notice the headings in this article.
- Publish real numbers and specifics. 'Websites cost ₱15,000 to ₱80,000 in the Philippines' is quotable. 'Prices vary' is not.
- Add structured data. Schema markup for articles, FAQs, services and your organization helps machines parse who you are and what you offer.
- Keep facts consistent everywhere. Your site, Google Business Profile and social pages should agree on names, prices and services.
- Stay fast and crawlable. Answer engines read your pages with the same infrastructure search crawlers use. A slow site gets read less often.
Quick test: paste your main service page into an AI assistant and ask 'What does this business offer and what does it cost?' If the AI cannot answer cleanly, neither can an answer engine.
